Regardless of the weather, or which residence you or your loved one calls home, on the King David Campus, there are always convenient and fabulous ‘getaways’ for the heart, mind, body and soul that will help you enjoy time alone, or surrounded by loved ones.
Learning a new skill, trying a new hobby, or simply enjoying a fun evening painting with friends are just a few of the creative, educational, and innovative programs offered to residents and program participants on the King David campus. We believe that learning and creativity are not bound by age.
King David is proud of the many innovative, award-winning opportunities that enable our campus community to exercise their minds and stimulate thought, nurture their creative selves and engage in current arts trends; all in the ways in which they choose. We know that, in general, these activities provide several health benefits, enhance quality of life and nurture overall well-being.
Each residence has its own creative arts center, where people engage in creative writing and a variety of art projects from ceramics to painting to whatever strikes their creative fancy. Our staff works diligently to cultivate unique opportunities for residents and tenants to create. Annually, tenants and residents showcase their talents at a Campus Art and Writing Exhibit.
Special Wine and Paint Nights with instruction by a local artist provide each participant a fun social experience and their own masterpiece to hang in their apartments or give as a gift.
For details on any of the variety of creative programs, contact the life enrichment staff members at the residence of interest.
The Computer Center is senior friendly and offers independent access to the digital world to all campus residents. The Center is located just off the back lobby area of Menorah Park across from Pearl’s Place Snack Shop and is open 24 hours each day for independent computer use. See any life enrichment coordinator for instructions on accessing computers.
At King David, we are proud of our Jewish values and embrace the rich spiritual diversity of our campus residents.
The Spiritual Living Department offers a variety of programs to provide enrichment to residents and their families. Its three full-time Orthodox Rabbis engage residents in Judaic culture, Torah learning, intergenerational events, social action programs, spirituality classes, and weekly Oneg Shabbat gatherings.
Prayer services are offered in the Orthodox tradition in the Jennie & Jacob Sapirstein Synagogue next to the Menorah Park auditorium. Please reach out to Rabbi Feinstein or Rabbi Kirsch for service information. Holiday programming and hours will be listed in each month's life enrichment calendar.
King David offers Jewish Services in the Reform and Conservative traditions with the help of community Rabbis at each residence. Please refer to the residential monthly calendars for dates and times.
In respect for our non-Jewish residents, services in the Catholic and Protestant traditions are offered by community clergy on-site in our Rosenbluth Creative Arts Center once each month.
Our independent and assisted living residences also offer weekend transportation and will coordinate rides to area places of worship.
Rabbis and Chaplains are available for pastoral support and counseling providing a caring presence through daily outreach. Our goal is to help provide peace of mind through confidential conversations and caring visits.
Our Rabbis carefully assure our high kosher standards under the guidance of our Senior Mashgiach and in consultation with Star K Kosher Supervision. To protect our kosher standards, no food may be brought into the Home, or stored in rooms (with the exception of fresh fruits and vegetables).
