OUR MISSION

The dialysis program at King David Center reflects a shared mission between our campus and Centers for Dialysis Care:
to deliver outstanding, patient-focused care in a setting that prioritizes comfort, respect, and clinical excellence.

Whether transitioning from the hospital or managing long-term dialysis needs, residents can remain in a familiar, supportive environment while receiving essential treatment.

On-SITE Dialysis at King David Center

In Partnership with Centers for Dialysis Care

At King David Center, we are proud to offer a convenient, on-campus dialysis program in partnership with Centers for Dialysis Care (CDC)—the largest outpatient dialysis provider in Northeast Ohio. This partnership allows residents to receive high-quality dialysis treatment without leaving campus, reducing the stress, time, and physical toll often associated with off-site appointments.

About Centers for Dialysis Care

Centers for Dialysis Care is an independent provider of dialysis and related kidney health services, serving Northeast Ohio for more than 50 years.

As a recognized leader in dialysis treatment, CDC is known for:

  • Patient-centered, compassionate care
  • Rapid response to evolving healthcare needs
  • Strong collaboration with physicians, providers, and payors
  • A commitment to education, training, and long-term patient support

Their long history of innovation and excellence makes them a trusted partner in delivering exceptional renal care.

Seamless Care, Right Where You Live

Our on-campus dialysis program is designed with comfort, safety, and continuity of care in mind. Residents benefit from:

  • No transportation hassles or long travel days
  • Close coordination between dialysis staff and King David Center’s clinical team
  • Reduced disruption to daily routines, therapies, and activities
  • Care delivered by highly trained, specialized dialysis professionals

This integrated approach supports better outcomes and a higher quality of life.

UNDERSTANDING DIALYSIS

Dialysis is a medical treatment that takes over the work of the kidneys when they are no longer able to function properly. Healthy kidneys remove waste, excess fluids, and toxins from the blood. When kidney disease or kidney failure occurs, dialysis helps maintain this balance and supports overall health. Dialysis may be recommended for individuals with advanced or end-stage kidney disease, often caused by conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure. A kidney specialist determines when dialysis is needed based on lab results, symptoms, and overall health.
Dialysis can be a temporary or long-term treatment, depending on the individual’s condition. While the idea of dialysis can feel overwhelming at first, many people continue to live full, meaningful lives while receiving treatment. With proper care, education, and support, dialysis helps manage kidney failure while allowing individuals to maintain daily routines and participate in activities they enjoy. At King David Center, dialysis care is closely coordinated with experienced clinical partners to ensure each resident receives safe, compassionate, and personalized care in a supportive environment.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

At King David Center, we are proud to partner with Centers for Dialysis Care to offer a range of dialysis treatment options that support individual needs, lifestyles, and medical goals. Selecting the right treatment is a shared decision between you, your nephrologist, and the CDC care team — with the goal of maximizing health, comfort, and quality of life.

In-Center Hemodialysis

This is the most common form of dialysis. Treatments take place in a clinical setting and are typically scheduled three times per week. During these sessions, a machine filters and cleans the blood outside the body, replacing kidney function. CDC staff supports access care, treatment monitoring, and education throughout the process.

Home Hemodialysis

For residents who want more flexibility and independence, home hemodialysis offers an option to perform dialysis at home. After specialized training, patients can complete shorter, more frequent treatments on a schedule that fits their lifestyle. This approach often helps with better control of fluid and toxin levels and reduces travel time.

Peritoneal Dialysis

This treatment uses the body’s own peritoneal membrane to filter waste. A catheter is placed in the abdomen, and dialysate fluid draws out toxins. Treatments occur daily and can be done at home, at work, or even while traveling. CDC offers training, ongoing support, and follow-up care for residents choosing this method.

Kidney Transplant

A kidney transplant can be a long-term solution for kidney failure. While not offered directly on campus, CDC supports resident education about transplantation as a treatment option. A functioning transplant can eliminate the need for dialysis, often leading to improved energy and overall quality of life.

Personalized Care and Support

No matter the treatment path chosen, every resident receives:

  • Education and counseling tailored to their health needs
  • Coordination with physicians and care teams
  • Supportive clinical services including nutrition and social work
  • Care planning that respects personal goals and lifestyle

No. One of the biggest benefits of this program is that dialysis is provided right on campus, eliminating the need for transportation to off-site dialysis centers and reducing the physical and emotional strain on residents.

Residents who require dialysis and meet clinical criteria may be eligible. Our admissions and clinical teams work collaboratively with physicians and Centers for Dialysis Care to determine appropriateness on a case-by-case basis.

Treatment schedules vary based on individual medical needs and physician orders. Centers for Dialysis Care coordinates scheduling directly with patients and the care team to ensure treatments fit smoothly into daily routines.

The on-campus dialysis program is designed to minimize disruption. Because treatments occur on-site, residents often experience:

  • Less fatigue from travel
  • Greater ability to participate in therapies and activities
  • More predictable daily schedules

Our teams coordinate closely to support a balanced care plan.
